Pass Labs Xs Pre 2
The Xs Pre 2 is built to vanish. It is not about a “preamp sound” — it is about removing haze, lowering noise and recreating space with enough precision that recordings feel physically believable.
With a fully rethought three-box architecture, a higher Class A bias in the output stage and meticulous parts choices, the Xs Pre 2 delivers effortless dynamics and an unusual degree of realism, especially in a resolving system. The result is a sense of continuousness: backgrounds go darker, images gain stability, and dynamic contrasts feel more natural and uncompressed. It is the kind of component that does not call attention to itself — until you notice how much more music your system is delivering, track after track.
The control unit sits on top; underneath it are two power supplies, one per channel, each in its own chassis. That separation is the reason the noise floor drops as far as it does.
