Audio Technica AT-LH13/OCC
The TechniHard surface treatment hardens the aluminium considerably, which raises the frequency at which the headshell itself wants to ring and pushes it clear of the audible band. On a resolving system the difference against a plain anodised shell is not subtle, particularly in the way the leading edge of a note holds together.
Tilt and overhang are both adjustable, and it ships with AT6101 OCC lead wires rather than the ordinary OFC set.
On headshell mass
Headshell mass is not a detail. It sets the effective mass of the arm, and with it the resonant frequency of the arm and cartridge together. That figure wants to land between roughly 8 and 12 Hz: below it you are into warp and footfall territory, above it and the resonance starts to intrude on the music. High compliance cartridges want a light headshell, low compliance moving coils want a heavy one. If you are unsure which way to go with your arm, ask us.
