1. Who processes your data
Sound Odyssey BV, Brandstraat 28, 9255 Buggenhout, Belgium, company number BE 0756.538.632, is the controller for the personal data processed through this website and in the course of our services.

2. What we process and why
We process the following data, each time for a specific purpose and on a specific legal basis.
- Orders, delivery, guarantee and repairs: name, address, e-mail, telephone, order and equipment details. Basis: performance of the contract.
- Webshop account: name, e-mail, address, order history. Basis: performance of the contract.
- Invoicing and accounting: name, address, VAT number, invoice details. Basis: legal obligation.
- Payments: payment details, processed by our payment provider. Basis: performance of the contract.
- Questions by e-mail, telephone, contact form or chat: name, contact details and the content of your message. Basis: performance of the contract, or our legitimate interest in answering questions.
- Appointments for a listening session or demonstration: name, contact details, interests. Basis: performance of the contract or pre-contractual steps.
- Newsletter: name and e-mail address. Basis: your consent.
- Website statistics: pseudonymous usage data. Basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.
We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing, and we do not carry out profiling.
Providing your data is necessary to enter into or perform a contract with us. Without it we cannot process or deliver an order. For the newsletter it is entirely optional.
3. Who receives your data
We never sell or rent your data. We share it with the following parties, each time only as far as necessary.
- Mollie B.V. (the Netherlands), for the processing of payments.
- The carrier delivering your order, which receives your name, address and contact details.
- Intuit Mailchimp (United States), for sending the newsletter.
- Google and Meta, when photographs in our reviews widget or our Instagram feed are loaded from their servers. Your IP address is transmitted to them in that case.
- SiteGround, for hosting the website, and our backup service.
- Our accountant, and the authorities where the law requires it.
With each of these parties we have a processor agreement, or they act as controller for their own processing.
4. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
For the newsletter we use Mailchimp, which may involve a transfer of data to the United States. For that transfer we rely on the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission and, where applicable, on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For all other processing your data stays within the European Economic Area.
5. How long we keep your data
- Invoices and accounting records: ten years, in line with the statutory tax retention period.
- Order and guarantee records: until the end of the guarantee period, and thereafter until the limitation period expires.
- Webshop account: until you have the account deleted.
- E-mail and chat conversations: no more than twelve months after the last contact, unless they belong to an ongoing file.
- Newsletter subscription: until you unsubscribe.
- Website statistics: no more than fourteen months.
6. Your rights
You have the right to inspect your data, to have it corrected and to have it erased. You can have the processing restricted, object to it, and obtain your data in a readable format or have it transferred to another party. Where you gave consent, you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting what happened before. You can always object to the use of your data for direct marketing, free of charge and without giving a reason.
Send a request to info@soundodyssey.be. We answer within one month. To avoid handing data to the wrong person, we may ask you to identify yourself.
7. Filing a complaint
If you are unhappy with the way we handle your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be, +32 (0)2 274 48 00, www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.
8. Cookies
Our website only uses strictly necessary cookies: those for your shopping basket, your session and your language choice. Because the site does not work without them, no consent is required and we do not show a cookie banner.
Our visitor statistics are collected without cookies and cannot be traced back to you as a person. We use no tracking cookies, no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics services.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including a secure connection, two-factor authentication on our administration environment and regular backups. No measure offers complete certainty; if you notice anything suspicious, please let us know.
10. Changes
We may adjust this statement when our processing or the rules change. The current version is always on this page.
