Few components are as recognisable as the QUAD 33 and 303, and current production hasn’t touched that shape. What you get is a power amplifier built to do one thing well: drive your speakers and then stay out of the way.
It is made to sit under the QUAD 33 preamplifier, and that is how we have the pair set up here. Together they are one of the easiest routes into a full separates system that still sounds like a considered whole rather than a collection of boxes.
What we listen for with the 303 is ease. It doesn’t push detail at you or sharpen edges to seem faster than it is. Voices sit in the room, timing holds together, and you stop noticing the amplifier — which is the point.
