SourcePoint 10 Master Edition
Andrew Jones built the SourcePoint 10 around a concentric driver: the 1.25-inch soft dome sits in the middle of the 10-inch woofer, so both arrive from the same point in space. That is what gives this speaker its unusually stable image, and why it holds together whether you sit dead centre or off to one side.
The Master Edition keeps that driver and reworks what sits behind it. Upgraded crossover parts, more linear impedance, and a three-position switch on the rear panel for the top end: low, mid or high, for a bright room, a normal one, or one with heavy curtains and a thick carpet. It is a small control with a real effect, and worth setting once with your own records in your own room.
At 91 dB into a nominal 8 ohms it doesn’t ask for much power, but it does reward quality over watts. Thirty good ones will do more here than a hundred indifferent ones.
It is set up here in walnut. This is a speaker that makes its case within a track or two, so come and listen.
